White Rock has a unique and highly desired quality of life. While there have been many enhancements, more needs to be done:
- A safe community is the highest priority.
- Fiscal responsibility to keep taxes down.
- Environmentally sound practices to preserve our City and Semiahmoo Bay for future generations.
- Peace Arch Hospital: encourage expansion of the hospital to ensure it stays at the forefront of healthcare and new technology.
- I will continue to work towards a Promenade Extension to Coldicutt Ravine beach access stairs (approximately 1km extension).
- I would like to see more unsightly Hydro lines moved underground on major streets. They interfere with views, are at risk to damage and outages from vehicle collisions and severe weather. Additionally, the removal of Hydro poles from sidewalks would create more space for seniors and others who rely on mobility aids, and to parents with strollers.
- As it is the major focal point in White Rock, I would like to focus on rejuvenation of the Pier and waterfront. Already we have a restored and upgraded museum, new public washrooms with viewing platforms and replacement of old pier lighting is on the way. This is a great start, and we need to continue to expand upon it.
- I believe White Rock and other municipalities south of the Fraser River (i.e. Delta, Surrey, Langley) would benefit greatly from an Amtrak stop. This has been on my agenda for quite some time, and while there are some obstacles that need further dialogue, I will continue to press to make this issue a reality.
- New developments must be held to the highest standards, such as first-class inspiring architecture, usable greenspace, wider sidewalks to promote greater pedestrian use, open sightlines and enhanced lighting for safety.
- I have a vision of a vibrant and beloved community where residents and visitors feel at home.
